A childhood favourite!
When I was a kid, there was a food brand that used to advertise “instant choco creams”. You add some milk in the powder, stir and there you have it! A quick snack full of sugar and many other weirdly sounding ingredients… My sister and I used to really enjoy making it. With my “Instant Raw Cocoa Protein Cream” the idea of a quick snack is the same. But, we are skipping all the sugar and weird ingredients.
Instant Raw Cocoa Protein Cream
All you need is 3 main ingredients and 10 minutes of your time and you will have a great snack, high in protein and antioxidants!
Raw Cocoa powder, banana and almond butter – that’s all! Add some nuts and fresh blueberries as a topping, or anything else you like, or nothing at all. I really like it with coconut shavings and brazil nuts!
You can keep it in the fridge for a couple of days – if it lasts 🙂
Minimal effort to make this healthy snack that you and your kids will love! Everything goes in the food processor at the same time, spin it and freeze it for 30 minutes – if you want. I like to freeze it in these really hot days in London but it is not really necessary.
Our Superstar Ingredient: Raw Cocoa
Raw Cocoa is a very interesting ingredient. High in antioxidant power and good fats, it is great to add it in a healthy balanced diet. In the process of roasting the cocoa beans the antioxidants tend to fade away, therefore try to get it raw.
Raw cocoa is also rich in protein! Nice, ha? The recipe for the Instant Raw Cocoa Protein Cream is a real protein boost! No added sugar is a bonus, but don’t overlook the naturally occurring sugars of the bananas!
Raw Cocoa is not easily found. I love the organic and fairtrade brands so that I can help minimise the impact to the environment and economies.
Until next time, keep cooking to stay healthy!
[Bonus] Watch the finishing off!
This is a super easy protein boost that you can eat before a workout, or as a healthy dessert. You only need 3 main ingredients and your choice of toppings!
- 4 bananas
- 4 teaspoons almond butter
- 4 tablespoons raw cocoa powder
Add all the ingredients in a food processor and pulse until you get a smooth cream
Serve in dessert bowls and freeze for 30 minutes (optional)
Add your favourites toppings. I suggest fresh coconut shavings and brazil nuts, blueberries, chia seeds and walnuts or anything else you like. Or even nothing at all!
If you prefer the consistency of the cream a bit less thick, you can stir in some unsweetened almond milk.
